The Answer: Grinding  is non-negotiable. Epoxy needs a "rough profile" to mechanically bond to the concrete. If you just wash it, the epoxy will eventually peel off in sheets.

  Most projects take 2–3 days including preparation, application, and initial curing. 

   Once fully cured, epoxy is non-toxic and safe for indoor use. Many modern formulas are low-VOC and low-odor.  

 For outdoor areas like patios, polyaspartic or UV-stable coatings are recommended.
